SAVANNAH- Bernice Toole Oliver, 90, died Saturday, October 16, 2010. She was a native of Oliver, Georgia and a longtime resident of Savannah.
A Graveside Funeral Service for Mrs. Oliver will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in Bonaventure Cemetery.
Grandma Oliver had a special place in my heart for many years. She was a simple, unassumimg woman and extremely independent- she wouldn't dare ask for help. During visits with her at her house or when taking her to her doctor appointments, I learned so much about her life with her many stories of growing up, being over in Germany, and her history here in Savannah. Sadly, her state of mind eventually deteriorated, but I'm so thankful to have her stories and memories-and some good recipes!- to keep hold of. I'm sure she is so happy to be reunited with her family -rest in peace.
